The Emotional Literacy Handbook draws on the experience of teachers and managers around the country to show how schools benefit from enabling staff and students to engage with each other in ways that build an understanding of their own emotions and those of others.
The Emotional Literacy Handbook will prove invaluable both to those who are trying to introduce whole-school strategies and to those who have been asked to subscribe to such a plan but still have doubts.

Thinking Together is a video showing how teachers at Gallions Primary School in East London use Philsophy for Children (P4C) to promote learning, community and well-being. Children, parents and teachers testify to the effect this work has had on childrenâs verbal reasoning and critical thinking as well as emotional and social development. Curriculum materials from the DCSF recommend this approach as a way of developing Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning (SEAL).

Thinking Allowed is a step-by-step guide on DVD to using Philosophy for Children (P4C) to develop thinking skills. Demonstrating the power of P4C to develop SEAL and shape communities of enquiry in classrooms everywhere, it follows on from Thinking Together (see above), using comparative footage of children first filmed in year 3 to demonstrate the difference that weekly sessions of enquiry can make to what was an average mixed-ability and multilingual group. By the end of Key Stage 2 over 50% of the class achieved Level 5 in English Reading and Writing.
